Dr. Basilio has directed choirs in both secular and sacred settings for over 40 years. Under his direction, The Red Robe Choir (Grossmont High School) and the Choral Scholars (University of San Diego) have undertaken over 40 international concert tours and have performed in the major cathedrals and universities of Italy, Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, England, Scotland, Ireland, the Soviet Union, Russia, Sweden, and Spain. He holds a degree in piano performance, an M.A. in choral conducting, and a doctorate in education. In addition to directing choirs at the collegiate level, he has taught graduate level Conducting and Choral Literature at both USD and SDSU, and graduate level Ethics at Chapman University.

He has conducted and prepared over 20 major choral works with orchestras and has prepared music from all historical periods. Dr. Basilio is among the first choral directors to include Multi-cultural/World Music in his programming.

He and his wife, Rebecca--also an accomplished choral director--have lived in San Diego since 1986. They have two children (Meghan and Gavin) and two grandchildren (Ace and Kai). All reside in San Diego.

Chohyun Park Lee is a Korean-American pianist and collaborative artist whose career encompasses solo performance, chamber music, concerto repertoire, and contemporary music. Based in San Diego, she is active as a performer, educator, and adjudicator with a particular interest in the connection between established repertoire and new musical voices.

A significant milestone in Dr. Park’s career was receiving First Prize at the Bartók-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition which led to performances at Carnegie Hall and concert tours throughout the United States. Her 2015 Carnegie Hall debut was praised for its Prokofiev interpretation, described as “sensible, motoric, nicely reasoned and solidly played with a real pulse.” She was also honored with the Most Distinguished Award at the IBLA Grand Prize Music Competition in Italy.

Her artistic work extends naturally into contemporary music. As a performer with NWEAMO (New West Evolving Arts and Music Organism), Dr. Park performed works by contemporary composers, collaborating closely with musicians and composers. Recent critics praised her “fleet technical keyboard mastery” and “hypnotic collaboration” in performances of works by Joseph Martin Waters and Jae-Eun Jung. Her performance of Waters’ Dokkaebi with flutist Elena Yarritu was also recognized for its virtuosity and expressive interplay between flute and piano.

Dr. Park is a founding member of Trio Aquarelle with Elena Yarritu and cellist Daniel Grab, and regularly serves as an adjudicator for piano competitions throughout Southern California.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Seoul National University and master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with Gregory Allen. Her doctoral research explored Scriabin, George Crumb, and Asian musical traditions.
